What Your Tire Pressure Warning Light Means

The tire pressure warning light, also known as the TPMS light, activates when one or more tires fall below the manufacturer’s recommended pressure. Low tire pressure can negatively impact fuel efficiency, tire life, and vehicle handling.

Temperature changes are a common cause of pressure loss, especially during colder months. Even a small drop in pressure can trigger the warning light.

While inflating the tires may turn the light off, it’s still important to manually check pressure using a gauge. Driving for extended periods with underinflated tires can cause permanent tire damage.

Keeping tires properly inflated improves braking, steering response, and overall safety.

Proper tire pressure works hand-in-hand with routine inspections and seasonal vehicle maintenance to keep your car performing reliably.
