Signs It’s Time to Replace Your Tires

Tires wear down gradually, which makes it easy to overlook when replacement is needed.

Driving on worn tires increases stopping distance, reduces traction, and raises the risk of blowouts.

One of the clearest signs is low tread depth. Tires with less than 2/32 of an inch of tread no longer provide adequate grip, especially in wet conditions. Cracks in the sidewall, bulges, or exposed cords are also strong indicators that tires should be replaced immediately.

Age matters as well. Even tires with good tread should typically be replaced after six years due to rubber breakdown caused by heat, sunlight, and environmental exposure.

Routine inspections help identify tire issues early, allowing drivers to replace tires before safety is compromised. Choosing the right replacement tires also improves ride quality and fuel efficiency.

If you’re noticing uneven tread wear, it may also be a sign that your vehicle needs a wheel alignment or more consistent tire rotations.
